Memorial Garden Lighting
Sponsored by the
Gulf Hills Civic Association
Sunday, December 6, 2020

Come join your fellow residents in celebrating the Christmas season with the annual Lighting of the Memorial Garden. The garden is located on Shore Drive at the northern juncture with Ridge Road. The lighting will occur at 5:30 p.m. Santa Clause will be there and available for your kids and pictures from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m.
This year, two additional activities are added for your enjoyment and participation. A short parade will proceed from the Gulf Hills Golf Club area to the Memorial Garden prior to 5:15. The processional will return with Santa after 5:45 p.m. for a chili supper and outdoor family Christmas movie. Bring your decorated golf carts, convertibles, Jeep’s, bikes, horses, etc. for the lineup between 3:45 and 4:00 p.m. As it will be dark on the return parade, make sure your vehicle has lights. It is requested (since we are in the season of giving) to participate in the parade, please bring either a bag of cat/dog food to be donated to the human society or one unwrapped toy to be donated to Santa Wears a Badge.
Your participation could be all or part in this wonderful community event. Comes as you are able. Gulf Hills Civic Association Directors Tammy Lee and Jeanell Todaro are leading the planning and coordination of the activities. Please contact them directly with any questions. There will be traffic control and increased safety at the Memorial Garden, so be aware if you are driving through at that time.

Gulf Hills Community Cleanup

Tomorrow, November 21st, is our annual Gulf Hills Community Cleanup morning. We will meet at the Gulf Hills Golf Clubhouse (probably on the patio) between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. for coffee and donuts, then divide our efforts into 4 tasks.
Main Entrance, Pine Entrance, and North Entrance — Trash pickup only. No Hurricane Debris
Memorial Garden — cut up and remove small trees that fell into the garden from the bayou.
Charlie Sentell is leading this effort and has bags and disposable glove for volunteers.
We will move out to the areas for work at 8:00 a.m. and should be completed by 9:30, depending on the available help. We look forward to seeing you there.

Gulf Hills Social – CANCELLED

The Gulf HIlls Civic Association is hosting a family fun social event for all Gulf Hills residents. Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 17th, 4 – 7 p.m.
More details to come in the next few weeks.

Several focus groups/committees have been formed to address specific improvement areas in our community. They are tasked with the discovery, discussion, and development of plans to address areas of community concern in Gulf Hills. Each of these groups are headed by a current Director of the Gulf Hills Civic Association. They are:

Vehicle Speeding — Haley Chatham, Chair

Drainage — Bob Manley, Chair

Membership — Jason Armstrong, Chair

Participation in these groups is open to members of the Gulf Hills Civic Association, current with payment of their annual $30 fee. If you would like to join one of these work groups, please send an email to president@gulfhills.org.

Gulf Hills Civic Association Annual Meeting Cancelled

At the May 12th meeting of the Gulf Hills Civic Association Board of Directors, it was decided to set aside the 2020 Annual Membership meeting due to continuing concerns of the virus spreading in communities and the lateness of the year. To continue the work of the Board of Directors, the four residents that were to be placed in nomination for election to the Class of 2020 were appointed to fill these positions until they can be confirmed or others elected during the 2021 Annual Membership Meeting. Those individuals are veteran directors Van Arnold and Bob Manley, along with first time directors Haley Chatham and Tammy Lee. A special early fall event is in the early planning stage that will present an opportunity for all residents to come together. Keep checking back to the events page for information.
