As March brings Gulf Hills a landscape of color from the countless azaleas planted in yards and along the right of ways, the community and civic association are working toward a new existence; new golf club owners envisioning a profitable business providing a fun experience for residents and friends, new civic association directors ready to kick programs and events into gear, a resurgence of civic awareness from residents that are ready for improvements in their neighborhoods, and a new Gulf Hills Civic Association website.
Along with the golf course fairways and greens came the clubhouse buildings. These have been transformed into a restaurant and lounge. Capone’s Restaurant, Bakery, and Speakeasy are now open, offering a relaxed setting for dining and socializing. The plans for the golf course revitalization include nine well-groomed and maintained holes, driving range, and practice putting green. The driving range will be carved from the old #4 and #5 holes with golfers driving westward from Tee Boxes situated off Ridge Road. No opening date has been set for the welcoming back of golfers, but it will certainly be an event for the community calendar.
The Gulf Hills Civic Association Board of Directors meets monthly to review the progress of projects and take up issues before the community. We have 12 directors working through 11 committees and workgroups to bring events and opportunities for growth, change, and resolution. To spring into our new existence in 2020, the Board of Directors will use the experience and enthusiasm of the Gulf Hills residents in areas of:
- Road and Drainage Improvement
- Dependable Utilities
- Membership in the civic association
- Active Neighborhood Watch
- Emergency Preparedness and Response
- Recording our Gulf Hills History
- Timely and Engaging Communications
- Civic Engagement
- Improving our Common and Controlled Properties
- Meaningful and Fun Events
- Clubs and Special Interests
As the newest form of communications to our members, residents, and friends, The Gulf Hills Civic Association website will join the Gulf Hills News quarterly newsletter, Gulf Hills Facebook Group, and Gulf Hills Yahoo Group to bring the latest news and interesting articles related to our community. The website will be updated monthly with event information, pictures, PDFs of the newsletters, and blogs like this. A feature of the website will be the ability to pay the civic association annual dues. Follow the link at the top of each web page to enter your information, pay the annual fee, and become a full member of the Gulf Hills Civic Association.
